How to get (good) user's review for your apps

Today I had a very informative conversation with @blackjack75 on Twitter. The subject was how to improve the amount and quality of user reviews for applications in the App Store. This guy has a lot of interesting points:

  • users will do something if it is really easy and don't take too much time (no surprise here)
  • users don't read a lot, so be very clear when asking them for a review in the App Store.
On the latter, @blackjack75 has a very interesting and enlightening thoughts on how he was able to improve sales of one of his application: Battery HD and( iTunes link). He was able to double his sales just by providing a well designed About view in the application. Read more here.

This ia a good read (you'll find other interesting reads on his blog too, go check it out) u'd may be a great complement to this blog post on using iRate to ask a review from the user.
